Ayesha, the Return of She is a novel by English author H. Rider Haggard, first published in 1905. It is the final novel in the Allan Quatermain series. In the prologue, an anonymous Editor receives a parcel containing a letter from Horace Holly and a manuscript about She. The narrative of Holly's manuscript begins nearly twenty years after his first adventure in Africa, where he and Leo Vincey believe Ayesha, the immortal queen, still lives. Despite warnings, they journey through Asia and encounter various challenges, including a wicked ruler and ancient prophecies. As they reach the mysterious city of Kaloon, tensions rise, leading to a battle of powers and an unexpected conclusion that alters their fates forever. Throughout the journey, themes of love, immortality, and the struggle for power unfold, culminating in a gripping tale of sacrifice and destiny.
