The Book of the Thousand Nights and a Night is a book by British writer Richard Francis Burton, first published in 1888. This is the fourth of sixteen volumes that Burton translated from the One Thousand and One Nights (the Arabian Nights) – a collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian stories and folk tales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age which use the framing device of the ruler Shahryār being narrated the tales by his wife Scheherazade, with one tale told over each night of storytelling. Volume 4 includes the following stories: Tale of Kamar Al-Zaman; Ala Al-Din Abu Al-Shamat; Hatim of the Trive of Tayy; Ma'an the Son of Zaidah; Ma'an the Son of Zaidah and the Badawi; The City of Labtayt; The Caliph Hisham and the Arab Youth; Ibrahim Bin Al-Mahdi and the Barber-Surgeon, and many more.
