First and Last Things is a 1908 work of philosophy by H. G. Wells. In it, he sets forth his beliefs in four parts entitled 'Metaphysics', 'Of Belief', 'Of General Conduct', and 'Some Personal Things'. Within these books, he discusses things such as The Necessity for Metaphysics; Planes and Dialects of Thought; On Using the Name of God; Free Will and Predestination; The Mystic Element; A Criticism of Christianity; Modern War; Love and Death; and many more.
