The Ivory Child is a book by H. Rider Haggard, first published in 1916. It is the fifteenth book in the Allan Quatermain series. When Quatermain pays a visit to Lord Randall, he is approached by two foreigners, Harut and Marut. They seek Macumazana, which is the name Allan Quatermain is known by among the Africans. Harut and Marut are priests and doctors of the White Kendah People, who urgently require Quatermain's assistance. The White Kendah people are engaged in a war against the Black Kendah people, who worship an malevolent deity. This deity's spirit dwells within the largest elephant ever witnessed, an invincible creature - thus, our fearless protagonist must venture back to Africa, where he must eradicate this nefarious spirit to prevent the annihilation of the entire White Kendah tribe.
