Nummits and Crummits, Devonshire Customs, Characteristics, and Folk-lore is a book by Sarah Hewett, first published in 1900. The book covers the folklore of the south-western English county of Devon. A treasure-trove of charms, superstitions, customs, weather-lore, stories, and songs, collected by the author from people who live in those parts of the country. The 'Nummits' and 'Crummits' of the title are both old words for snacks, so one might translate the title as 'bits and pieces'. Note: Because some of the text is written in the old Devonshire dialect, it can make reading difficult at times.
This book has 40,578 words, 105 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published in 1900.
Production notes: This ebook of Nummits and Crummits, Devonshire Customs, Characteristics, and Folk-lore was published by Global Grey on the 22nd June 2022. The artwork used for the cover is 'The Old Bridge in Devon' by Thomas Girtin.
