The Oregon Trail: Sketches of Prairie and Rocky-Mountain Life, is a book by Francis Parkman, first published in twenty-one installments in 'Knickerbocker's Magazine' between 1847-1849. The book is an account of the author's 2-month summer tour in 1846 of the U.S. states of Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado and Kansas. Parkman was 23 at the time. The book includes the three weeks Parkman spent hunting buffalo with a band of Oglala Sioux.
This book has 128,443 words, 189 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published 1847-1849.
