Village Life in China, A Study in Sociology is a book by American missionary Arthur H. Smith. It was first published in 1899, and contains information about various aspects of nineteenth-century life in China, where the author lived for many years. The first section deals with the institutions of the village, such as the shops, temples, religious societies, schools, theatres, etc. The second section covers family life and explores the structure of the family, and the position of women, men, boys, and girls within it. The one chapter third section is about bringing Christianity to China.
